Afghanistan beat their 106-ball target with 59 balls remaining in the game. At the top of the order, Rahmanullah Gurbaz produced a quickfire 38 while Hazratullah Zazai blasted an undefeated 37. Earlier, as Afghanistan bowled out Sri Lanka for 105, Fazalhaq Farooqi stood out with a performance of three for 11. When Sri Lanka was given the opportunity to bat, they were struggling at five for three after Farooqi and Naveen-ul-Haq ran roughshod over the first two overs. After dismissing Kusal Perera and Charith Asalanka with two strikes in the first over, Naveen-ul-Haq dismissed Pathum Nissanka in the following over.
