The BCCI has included the names of India’s U19 World Cup winners to the IPL auction list.

The BCCI has put players of the 2022 Under-19 World Cup-winning team to the IPL’s Mega Auction list. Ten players of the Yash Dhull-led India team who did not make the cut have been added to the list, according to Cricbuzz. The total number of Players in the auction has now reached 600.

On Friday, IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed the news to Cricbuzz (February 11). Patel said, “Yes, we have added the Under 19 players to the registration.”

This information was originally given to the IPL teams on Friday night during the traditional auction-eve meeting with franchise representatives. They were not provided the identities of the individuals; instead, they were told that the auction registration will be expanded by 10 players. Patel later confirmed to Cricbuzz that the newcomers were really India’s Under-19 team.

Many of the World Cup-winning India U19 players were previously disqualified due to the rules and regulations, which say that only U19 players who have played at least one first-class match or List A game are allowed to participate in the auction. If they don’t have any domestic experience, they should have turned 19 by the time the auction takes place.

Vice-captain Shaik Rasheed, wicketkeeper Dinesh Bana, Ravi Kumar, Nishant Sindhu, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Manav Parakh, Garv Sangwan, Siddharth Yadav, and Aaradhya Yadav should all be eligible now, but the BCCI has yet to disclose the names of the players who have been added.

Obviously, these players’ qualifying status has not changed since they won the U-19 World Cup in Antigua on February 5, but BCCI appears to have made an exception for their inclusion on the auction list.

The issue was reportedly raised during the BCCI secretary Jay Shah’s recent felicitation of the Under 19 players in Ahmedabad, and it is thought that he assured them that their situation will be considered.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has informed the franchisees that no eleventh-hour withdrawals have occurred, implying that the registration size would remain at 600.
