CSK fans express their disappointment on Twitter as rival RCB signs Faf du Plessis for Rs. 7 crore.

Faf du Plessis has been a part of a number of CSK title-winning squads.

Faf du Plessis, the former South African captain who was purchased by RCB for a huge price of 7 crore INR, was one of the most surprising deals in the first set of the IPL mega auction today. Faf’s wage has increased significantly from his former team, Chennai Super Kings, when he earned 1.6 crore INR (CSK).

The reason for the surprising agreement is that Faf du Plessis is a CSK star who has been a member of several title-winning teams, and even last season, he was the tournament’s second-best run-scorer, only two runs behind orange cap winner Ruturaj Gaikwad.

While CSK supporters understood why Faf was not retained because the team had other players to keep, they wanted the management to go all out for Faf in the big auction and bring him back into the lineup.

CSK management attempted to make a deal for Faf du Plessis but was stopped at 3.2 crore.
To be fair to CSK management, they did try to re-sign Faf and had a brief bidding battle with RCB, but they stopped at 3.2 crore INR, and RCB then had a bidding war with Delhi Capitals, which they won and sealed Faf’s services for 7 crore.

Faf du Plessis may not be the most explosive T20 batter in the world, despite having a relatively healthy strike rate, but his most amazing quality is that he is consistent and performs in most of his team’s games rather than being hit and miss.

Because the former South African captain had an emotional connection with CSK supporters, many of them were dissatisfied that CSK did not repurchase him.
